Goodman GSX16 Central Air Conditioner Overview

The Goodman GSX16 is a split system air conditioner with an efficiency rating of up to 16 SEER. "Goodman AC & Coil"

5.0 rating
Very Satisfied

In April 2016 we had Goodman Central ac condenser installed, Model # gsx160301 and a cased coil installed Model # capt3131c4. We've had no problems what so ever. The outside condenser is quiet. We've saved on our electricity bill. Installation is important. From our experience I recommend Goodman.

"NEVER PURCHASE GOODMAN!!!"

Two and a half years and we have already replaced the compressor and the fan. Still made a ton of noise every time it started up. Now the condessor coils have leaked in 2 places. No more Freon. So yes, it is covered under warranty, but that does not include labor and "parts such as copper pipe and more Freon" that also need to be replaced. This repair will cost me another $1000. Two different HVAC companies have recommended I go with a new unit at this point. What a joke! These things are supposed to last 10 years.

We have purchased 2, 1 for upstairs and 1 for downstairs. Our Trane units went bad. Nothing bad to say, I would recommend a good installer. We have a 13 SEER unit upstairs and a 16 SEER unit downstairs. We did size it up by a half ton, which was recommended by the AC installation company, which installed Trane and others.

"This air conditioner is three years old, started making an electrical grinding noise this summer."

Air compressor seized after two summers of full use. This unit is 3 years old. I have a 10-year warranty on the part but not on labor. I am being told my cost will be 1500.00 for 8 hours labor and the Freon. Blairco in Vancouver, Washington put this unit in. I am trying to negotiate this cost down. It's doubled since last week. Do not buy a Goodman AC unit!

"Goodman works well, but noisily"

Hi there. I am a resident of South Florida and our summers can get real hot. That's why I've replaced my old central air conditioner with a newer model. According to the warranty paper I pulled up, I've had this unit for seven months now. I like that Goodman cools my house from 80 degrees to a nice room temperature in about ten minutes. By contrast, my older unit would take double the amount of time to cool my house. I also like that Goodman has a modern frame finish and looks great from the outside. Not only that, Goodman has saved me money on my electric bill by running efficiently. I dislike, however, the noise that Goodman makes during turn-on and shutoff modes; I am sometimes awoken by the noise and didn't have that issue with previous units. Also, Goodman turns on and off too frequently, about every ten minutes. I would like the unit to work and rest for longer periods of time. Thus far, I've not had to repair or replace Goodman. Next time I might purchase a unit that works more quietly; that's why I cannot recommend Goodman to a friend.
