Payne PA13NA Central Air Conditioner Overview

The Payne PA13NA is a split system air conditioner with an efficiency rating of 13 SEER. It features a single-stage scroll compressor and a copper tube/aluminum fin coil designed for optimal heat transfer. The unit’s specially-designed fan blades and rubberized isolation pads help reduce noise levels, while externally located brass service valves and a single access panel provide easy serviceability. The prepainted steel cabinet features a galvanized coating underneath and a layer of zinc phosphate for a weather resistant finish, and all cabinet screws are rust-resistant. Payne’s previous 13 SEER air conditioning unit was the PA13, which has been discontinued.

"Not happy so far"

Just had new unit put in today. The temp was in the low to mid-80'S. Set temp at 62 degrees. The unit has been running for 2 1/2 hours temp in the house was 80 degrees l temp finally dropped to 76 degrees, outside temp is 70 right now. If temp hit the 90's I don't think this unit will be able to cool my 1650 sq ft home. The installer said to let it run for a few days and if still not cooling properly, then call and he'll come back to check it out. So far not happy. Will add or write another review in 5 days to see if anything changed.

I bought this unit new, used it for 2 months, went the following summer starting to use it and complained that, intermittently, it wouldn't blow cold then start blowing cold again. The installer said it's hard to diagnose because its intermittent and has never come across this before. He's been in the business for 25 years. I recommended that he change the condenser that was old and not part of the system that he replaced, so that cost me $950. That didn't work. Then a month after that I woke up to warm air, the motor has shorted, so my new unit that I ran for approximately 7 months has failed. Yes, the parts where covered under warranty, but now have to pay $500 for installation and Freon. Wow, a part that is known to last for 15 years didn't even last close to that. Oh, and the kicker is that the motor is in another country that has to be shipped in and will take a while. I emailed the company while me and my kids are sweating and they didn't have the respect to call or email me back. Never again will I deal with an unprofessional product and company.

Purchased and had installed August 2016, the cooling was working great. This summer it seems like it doesn't even turn on. I was better with my evaporator cooler in this river valley. Sounds like it works okay, out there is just nothing, the guy who installed it checked the pressures and said it was okay, had vents cleaned, there is just nothing there to cool a house. Would not recommend this brand to anyone at all

Had a new a/c and furnace installed when purchasing house 3 years ago. Last year a/c unit wouldn't run requiring a service call of nearly 200.00. Service man explained the part that went "just goes" on this type of unit. This summer, the unit worked for 1 week. It would not restart after being off for a few hours on a cooler day. Another expensive service call coming our way. Strongly recommend any other brand. 9 years with another brand at the old home and no problems.
