Trane Central Air Conditioner Reviews

"Trane does not honor its warranty"

1.0 rating
Very Unsatisfied

I purchased my home in Florida in 2012. The previous owner purchased a top of the line Trane system in 2011. Trane boasts a 10-year warranty. I have a dual compressor unit and both compressors died last week. The local distributor contacted Trane and they would not honor the warranty because I was not the original purchaser of the system. I contacted Trane myself to try and reason with them. They opened a case number in an effort to get rid of me. They said I would be contacted by a representative but that never happened. I installed a new system, not Trane. Their 10-year warranty is a scam, transfer of ownership is just a way they can avoid their responsibility and void the warranty. I urge anyone who is looking into a new ac system to avoid this unethical scamming company!

"Freon Leak"

1.0 rating
Very Unsatisfied

Bought a Trane AC unit in 2000. In 2007 had to replace the outside fan unit…ugh. In 2008 the AC unit inside was leaking. For the last 8 years, like clock work every summer, I've had to put more Freon in the unit. R22 has been really going up in price. Won't buy another Trane. Way overpriced.

"Worst AC ever and no recourse"

1.0 rating
Very Unsatisfied

Bought the unit in 2013 and the repair people have been at our house 16 times. Trane will not stand by their product and I see a class action lawsuit coming in the future. Don't buy one!

"I know how to stop a Trane"

1.0 rating
Very Unsatisfied

Just 12 months out of warranty, compressor goes out; have had the unit serviced/cleaned 2x year for the entire 6 years. I would expect that from a cheap piece of equipment, but surprised given the reputation for "quality". All I can say is I will never own another one.

Other 2TTA Reviews

Reviews around the web are minimal for the 2TTA. Among them, a contractor on hvac-talk.com shares with his peers a photo of a recent 2TTA installation. Along with the photograph he reveals that the installation of these four units took more time to install than many other comparable units, but he was pleased with the end results. Other posts on this forum also refer the unit in commercial applications, one reason there seems to be a lack of additional reviews.

However, Trane as an HVAC dealer has several reviews from both happy and dissatisfied customers. Frequent complaints on sites such as central-air-conditioner-and-refrigeration.com include problems with a lack of quality in the equipment, supported by customer tales of frequently breaking components and unit failures. Other owners report years of hassle-free operation with a Trane system. Hvacreviews.net also note high-efficiency, reasonable prices, and solid warranty coverage as incentives to choosing a Trane unit.
