"The test of time"
We have a 1950 Fitzgibbons boiler in our house. We have mixed feelings about it. Every year we cross our fingers that the 65 year old boiler will start up and work. Being so old, it has had a few repairs, like a new burner and a new water pump, but other than that it has been reliable. What we dislike about it is that we know it is far less efficient than new models, and replacing it would mean a savings in fuel costs. Also, our local plumber has said that he can no longer source parts and the next time we had trouble with it, we would have to replace it. It would be tough to recommend this boiler to a friend, because the company that makes them, went out of business decades ago.
