Question:
Where is the air filter for the Trane XR95?

Answer:
The air filter in the Trane XR95 is located in a different location depending on what type of air flow your furnace is. For upflow horizontal models the filter is located in a remote area. For upflow vertical models the optional filter rack is located on the bottom side of the unit. For downflow models the filters are typically found outside the furnace cabinet. To find the correct filter for your furnace the chart below corresponds with the width of the furnace cabinet.

Question:
I have a Trane XV80 furnace. Is there a filter in the furnace? I have two filters in the house but I thought there was one in the furnace compartment.

Answer:
Typically when furnace filters are found in the furnace cabinet the air flow configuration of that unit is upflow. Most downflow units have their filters in the ductwork. See the chart below for matching filter for the Trane XV80.
The correct filter matches to the air flow configuration and cabinet width. Thanks!

The manual on pages 7 and 8 displays diagrams to eliminate confusion.

Question:
Where is filter on the Trane XB80 furnace?

Answer:
For filter diagram and information for the Trane XB80 downflow model see pages 10 and 11 in the installation manual.
See the link below for the manual. http://www.bayareaservice.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/XB80-Installation-Manual.pdf

The Trane XB80 furnace filter can be found in different places depending on what type of unit you have. Upflow furnaces use a high velocity type air filter which may be located within the furnace blower compartment in either a BOTTOM or SIDE (left or right) return air inlet. The location of filters in downflow furnaces are found outside of the furnace cabinet, typically in the ductwork. Below is a chart for replacement furnaces. This chart matches the correct filter by air flow configuration and cabinet width. Thanks!

Question:
What size filter does the XB90 Trane furnace take?

Answer:
Finding the right furnace filters for the XB90 is a bit complicated, but we’ll walk you through it. First, you need to take a look at the furnace and figure out if it is an upflow furnace or a horizontal furnace.

If your furnace is in a horizontal configuration, you’re done — just use the chart below for the horizontal version of the XB90 — you’ll need to buy 2 filters.

If your furnace is in an upflow configuration, you only need 1 filter — but it’s a bit trickier to figure out which one you need.

First, measure the width of the furnace cabinet. If it’s 17-1/2″, you’re all set — you need a 17x25x1 filter. (You can buy one on Amazon with the link below).

If it’s wider than 17-1/2″, you’ll need to see whether the current filter is located at the bottom of the furnace or on the side. Then, use the chart below to figure out the correct filter. If the filter is located on the side, the Owner’s manual for the XB90 says that you’ll need to trim down the 17x25x1 filter.

Question:
What kind of filter do I need for the Trane XL90 Furnace?

Answer:
Which filter you need depends on the configuration of your furnace, and the size of the furnace cabinet.
