Amana AMVM96 Furnace Overview

The Amana AMVM96 is a discontinued modulating gas furnace with an efficiency rating of up to 96% AFUE. It was Energy Star qualified and designed for multi-position (upflow, horizontal left or right) installation. It featured a durable Million-Air stainless steel tubular heat exchanger and a stainless steel secondary heat exchanger, with a variable-speed blower motor designed to precisely maintain a constant temperature. A self-diagnostic control board included constant memory fault code history output to a dual 7-segment display, and the unit was ComfortNet Communicating Systems compatible. The furnace’s heavy gauge steel cabinet had a corrosion-resistant baked enamel finish and was fully insulated to reduce both operating noise levels and heat loss.

Amana Furnace Reviews

"Poor communications/Poor installations"

5.0 rating
Very Satisfied

I am a Goodman/Amana dealer in Illinois and am shocked by the poor reviews written here. Goodman/Amana are top performers in the industry! If you cypher through all the hype and angst, you can determine that each and every poor review is written by a consumer that was connected with a contractor that lacked no installation skills, no communication skills, or a contractor that should not be installing furnaces or air conditioning units, period! Also, why people cannot understand that the manufacturer’s warranty and the dealer’s warranty are two distinctly different things is beyond me. There is where the poor communication comes in! The ten year warranty should be registered by the consumer, the contractor should explain all of that. And no where does it say that installation costs for a defective part are paid for by Goodman/Amana, ever. Read your warranty! Heating and cooling units do not operate outside of certain operating temperatures which are controlled by not only the equipment, but the duct system. And most duct systems are inadequate. So before you critisize that manufacturer that spends millions of dollars researching, developing, and testing these units, do yourselves a favor and get in touch with a real heating and cooling contractor and listen to what he says. You may not like what he has to say (which is the case most often) when you get an honest one and he tells you that you have a deficient air distribution system. But it is because of that why some new systems do not work well. And for heaven’s sake, when you are writing these reviews, check your spelling and forget the name calling and cool phrases like “This furnace sucks”. All that does is shows ignorance on the part of the writer. Amana and Goodman are great furnaces and an excellent value! My company has been in business for 42 years, we enjoy good standing in the community, and look forward to many more successful years as a Goodman/Amana dealer. "Quiet"

5.0 rating
Very Satisfied

I replaced an old Rheem furnace and I noticed the new furnace is much quieter and I seem to get a much more even heat throughout my house. I had 3 estimates and found the Amana furnace to be competitively priced compared to some of the other brands. My installing contractor( Comfort Solutions HVAC) did a very neat and clean installation and I was impressed with their service. All and all I recommend this furnace.

"Amana is amazing"

5.0 rating
Very Satisfied

I’ve had an Amana for over 11 years and have had no problems. I believe the problem is not the unit but mostly Amana’s customer service. I recently sold my house and had to install a new furnace at my new place. I am receiving a 10-year parts and labor warranty from a local heating contractor named Bosco. I have been a customer of these guys for quite some time, mainly with plumbing. The installers were efficient and very attentive to detail. I’m extremely satisfied with their work. I came to fill in my review and was quite taken aback by the negative comments I saw here. So I felt it was necessary that someone spoke up. Most of these unsatisfied customers seem to be unsatisfied with Amana’s customer service, rather than the product. Pick the right contractors and you will be fine. I will never change from Amana nor will I use anyone other than Bosco.

"Amana Modulating Furnace"

1.0 rating
Very Unsatisfied

Just purchased and installed new modulating furnace with variable speed blower fan from Amana amvm961005dx with matching ac coil, chpf4860d6d*+TXV, ac unit 4-ton model asxc180481a with two speed blower fan, 2-stage compressor. Total BTU 47,500 sensible 36,100 seer 18.00 seer 13.00 ari#4654768. Got the 10 parts and labor and lifetime compressor/heat exchanger along with lifetime replacement on both. This unit is sweet. Can’t even hear the furnace running on low speed fan, let alone with the furnace going (it’s still summer here). House warmed up quickly. AC unit is freakishly quiet on low stage and the house has a lot of air flow and pulls down quickly and stays there on low stage. Highly, highly recommend the Amana. Originally didn’t lean toward Amana as I have a York on another property. Got 24 bids from Trane, Carrier, Lennox, Rheem, Goodman, etc. Amana was second cheapest bid to York. Originally leaning toward York, couldn’t get 18 seer on 4 ton AC with modulating furnace 98% on York (best is 17seer/13 seer). Have York unit on another home of mine which is nice also. Thing that sealed deal was efficiency and mostly the warranty from Amana. Can’t beat it right now. Very nicely built unit. Do have to say installation is crucial to get full use of all components (Venstar t5800 touchscreen with wifi key) and ensure long life. I upgraded my ducting a couple of years ago to allow for maximum air flow and tied all room returns and hall returns back into unit. Have bypass duct on blower. Replaced an 8 year old Carrier, 5 ton furnace 3.5 ton AC unit (bad refrigerant leak due to bad install by Beautler caused pre-mature failure of compressor). Kept leaking even after repair. This is why I say installation is crucial. Old Carrier furnace is in good condition so I will keep.
