Carrier Furnace Reviews

"Shove the Carrier Up The Derrier"

1.0 rating
Very Unsatisfied

Wow…..pages and pages of the same problems we have with our junk furnace justifies that Carrier blows (mostly cold air). The last six years we have had a “professional” heating & ac company come “fix” it at least a half dozen times–per winter!! Diagnoses run from broken parts to bad thermostats to a leaf that may have blown into the exhaust vent. One Christmas eve I was up all night–not waiting for Santa, but nursing the furnace along so our parrots would not freeze to death. Another problem is that a condenser hose fills with water and we constantly have to drain it before it backs into the heating unit. Waiting again right now for the serviceman to arrive. Just fired the piece of crap up three days ago and already two days without heat. The annual ritual of calling for Carrier repair has become our first sign of winter!

"Carbon Monoxide Poisoning"

Very Unsatisfied

I thought I was paying extra money for a guaranteed quality product. I was so wrong. It lasted only 11 years before the heat exchanger failed to operate and emitted carbon monoxide fumes into the house.

"B Witte if full of it"

2.0 rating
Somewhat Unsatisfied

Hate to school B Witte, but it’s also the product. When you run the averages, certain manufactures standout. As the owner of the brand, Carrier can monitor and address poor installers. It’s just whether they bother to make the effort. There’s nothing unique about Carrier in this regard. Carrier is average, I have over 50 units installed in rentals throughout Akron. They cover three different Brands, all serviced by the same HVAC company. Of these brands, Trane has been the least problematic, Carrier second and York third. I keep track of these costs so when it come time to replace them I know which way to go. These are not top of the line units, probably considered ‘good’, 85-90 efficiency models. I’m looking for units that work to the tenants satisfaction and don’t give me any headaches or extra costs. I’ve had Trane replace blowers under warranty with no issue and Carrier fight me all the way, this is a ‘manufacture’ warranty, so I would not expect the HVAC guy to eat the costs but do expect them to lead the fight. My direct comparisons of Carrier to others such as Trane have me sold on Trane and how much they back their products at the manufacturer level. I wish Carrier did the same. By the way, I’m not adding any York systems to my units, they have been by far the worse product(8 times the calls vs Trane)
