Carrier 58WAV Furnace Overview

The Carrier 58WAV is a discontinued variable-speed gas-fired furnace with an efficiency of 80.0% AFUE. The patented Super-S 4-pass stainless steel heat exchanger provided improved heat transfer, and a hot surface silicon carbide ignition system increased reliability and efficiency. The control board monitored furnace operations and functions and included a self-test feature and an LED status indicator light. The one-piece, seamless prepainted steel cabinet had a galvanized steel substrate to provide rust and corrosion resistance. The 58WAV was for use with natural gas but could be converted to propane with a factory-authorized conversion kit.

Carrier Furnace Reviews

"Carrier Gas Furnace"

2.0 rating
Somewhat Unsatisfied

Model 58wav 111-14. Replaced circuit board after 4 years of use. Routine service call today for seasonal cleaning & check-up uncovered a cracked heat exchanger. To replace, $900 & up. And the serviceman pointed out with age of unit, other components, ie blower motor, wheel, etc, surely will start breaking down. As previous customers have mentioned, expected this furnace to last at least 15-20 years. Guess they just don’t make things to last anymore. Will be buying a new furnace, but not a Carrier. After some quick surfing & researching, will go for a Goodman this time.
