"Garbage"

Very Unsatisfied

Bought brand new and expected it to last. A component on the motor Bell housing burnt (capacitor possibly). It is no longer made, cannot find a replacement. Designed to fail with no manufacturer support to stand behind this product.

Blower motor burnt up after 9 years. No warranty! $1,200 for a new motor. May as well buy a new furnace. Built to breakdown.

"A good installation means a great furnace"

5.0 rating
Very Satisfied

Going on seven years as of this writing. Very reliable and trouble free, a lot is due to the expert installer, which is so important. Teamed up with 2 stage thermostat which provides comfortable steady heat. As this furnace ages, I plan to have it serviced/checked annually.

"Junk…poor quality & service"

1.0 rating
Very Unsatisfied

We paid nearly $10,000 dollars to install this furnace in 2009 and the blower motor has already burnt out. The cost to replace it is $1,200 and Goodman is refusing to honor the 10-year warranty. I strongly recommend to never purchase a product from Goodman. Quality is poor and so is the customer service.

Other GMV95 Reviews

Comments on HVAC-Talk message boards and heating contractor sites are mixed regarding the Goodman Furnaces:

  • One service tech at HVAC-Talk forums says that his company has preferred selling Goodman over Lennox for two years. Goodman, like Amana, has had absolutely no problems whatsoever and is deemed superior over Lennox, which has been known to be problematic.
  • A few people observe that Goodman units have weak control response and initiation. Even new wire boards, which are expensive, don't bring forth any positive results.

Yet others at HVAC-Talk have asserted that Goodman is one of the most inferior makes on the market. The biggest gripe: They don't last very long.

  • Another service tech at HVAC-Talk claim that Goodman units generally receive less-than- enthusiastic support from professionals, but, on the flipside, receive positive reviews from many buyers in the residential sector.

GMV95 Warranty

Goodman equipment has a 10-year replacement limited protection on all models, and a lifetime warranty on the heat exchanger. Note, however, in 2005 a Goodman representative told FurnaceCompare.com that they WILL NOT BACK their warranty if you buy your furnace online. In 2014, we were told that the warranty on an online purchase would be backed as long as the furnace was installed by a licensed contractor. Double-check on this before you you buy a Goodman furnace online!
