York Affinity Furnace Overview

York’s Affinity line consists of two gas furnaces: the Affinity YPLC, offering 80% AFUE, and the 98% AFUE Affinity YP9C. Winner of the Consumers Digest “Best Buy” award, the 98% AFUE YP9C is Energy Star rated and has a multi-position configuration.

Both the high-efficiency and base-line unit use a variable speed EMC blower motor for quiet, efficient operation and a modulating design that constantly adjusts heating levels for maximum comfort.

Additional components of the Affinity series include: reinforced cabinets, gasket doors, and York’s Climatrak Comfort System, a feature that customizes operation to the conditions of any region. With its compact 33-inch height, the Affinity series can also fit into tight spots around the home.

Along with the current YPLC and YP9C series, there are several discontinued series in the Affinity furnace line, including the Affinity 8.S, with an efficiency of 80% AFUE; Affinity 8.V, also offering an efficiency of 80% AFUE; Affinity 9V, with a 92% AFUE; and the Affinity 8.T.

"Do Not Buy This Furnace!!!"

1.0 rating
Very Unsatisfied

Purchased this furnace 8 yrs ago and have had nothing but problems!! Gas Valve, switch, built up condensation, had to replace the blower motor module in 2017 (6 yrs old) which is the most expensive part in the furnace. Nothing but problems! Stopped working again this past spring (2019) and they said the blower motor module needs to be replaced again. It only has a 1 yr warranty and it will cost me $1,900 for part and labor. They are saying I should buy a new unit!! This one is supposed to be a high-end furnace and last me 20 yrs. So right now we are using fans all over my house because we have no ac because of this and I’m a single mom who can’t afford a whole new unit again right now. I think I need to get an attorney! Any tips or advice from people with these same problems would be helpful!!

"Awful Product – Don’t Buy York"

1.0 rating
Very Unsatisfied

This furnace is the Affinity 9.c series and is less than 10 years old and for the last three years it has had one issue after another. I do yearly cleaning every year, but there is always an issue. Condensate collects in the box, the blower failed, the pressure switch or rollout sensor fails. And now they think the mother board is failing. Never again. I am replacing it with a Rheem!

"Repairs"

This brand is a joke! Have had nothing but issues with it since purchased it in 2010. Will never own another one. Thinking about getting rid of it all together and the service man who installed it was a joke also!

"The worst"

1.0 rating
Very Unsatisfied

I have had nothing but problems since I bought this brand new $4,500 furnace. I wouldn’t touch York again. My installer even quit carrying York any more. I’m on a first name basis with all the repairmen now. It’s New Year’s Eve. I’m hoping garbage heap of a furnace makes it until the repair shop’s open in 36 hours.

"Avoid York at all costs!"

1.0 rating
Very Unsatisfied

Least reliable furnace ever! I’m replacing it after 10 years because the latest failure would cost $1,500 to repair (blower motor and inverter). Previously I’ve had to replace the main circuit board (many hundreds of dollars) and the water pump/actuator (another $100 or so). Consumer’s Reports is right, do not buy a york furnace!
