"Best Value High Efficiency Furnace"

5.0 rating
Very Satisfied

The York tg9s is the best value high efficiency furnace in the line. This 95 afue furnace provides operating efficiencies that only a few years ago cost much more to achieve. The compact size makes it an ideal replacement furnace, and the fact that one furnace can be installed horizontally or upflow or downflow is a bonus, too! While many consumers really like the 95 afue advantage, they find the price point of this model to be perfect for a growing family’s budget. Consumers are also surprised at the affordable additional YorkCare plans that can offer years of additional protection.

"Unit is fine – installers not"

5.0 rating
Very Satisfied

Our York hvac unit has performed well. However, the installers, Anytime Heating and Air in Jeffersonville, Indiana, did not provide the customer booklets so our registrations were submitted 16 months after installation. This error has reduced our warranty from 10 years to 5 years. As a professional who submitted all other warranties in a timely fashion upon moving into our new construction January 2016, I am not not pleased with the lack of professionalism in providing the booklets. The booklets were located, hidden out of sight, when routine maintenance was done.

"Problems in less than 2 years"

1.0 rating
Very Unsatisfied

My furnace was installed less than two years ago and performed well until recently. The problem involves the furnace shutting down for no apparent reason. The control board indicates a ventilation problem but none exists. This erratic shut-down problem (malfunctions) is described in multiple posts on the Internet and indicates a serious problem with the York tg9s furnace and its lack of reliability. I am distraught that I have purchased this unit and do not look forward to suffering the continuing maintenance nightmares so aptly described by other owners. I would not recommend purchase of this furnace based on my experience and the reported experiences of others.

"York Furnace TG9S Review"

5.0 rating
Very Satisfied

This winter our 10 year old TempStar furnace failed. It was going to be quite expensive to repair. We took the contractor’s (c&c Olympic) recommendation to replace the unit with a new York furnace. The contractor also carried Trane furnaces, but given the tight space for our installation, the contractor told us to go with York. We did and so far the furnace has provided excellent heat service. No problems to speak of currently. It is a 95% efficiency furnace.

"New furnace review"

Very Satisfied

This unit is much smaller than the previous furnace. It heats the house very evenly and it runs very quiet. I am hopeful that our heating bills will be reduced throughout the winter.

Other TG9S Reviews

In general, reviews from around the web praise the York TG9S for its affordability, energy-efficiency and performance. A few problems are reported on consumer forums, however. Among them, one homeowner on hvac-talk.com complains about the noise produced by the unit after it was installed. As it turns out, there was a glitch during the installation and the piping wasn’t run outside as it should have been. Other contractors on the forum suggest that adjusting the pressure also may help to cut down on noise.

A consumer asks on hvacmechanic.com for advice on how to keep burners on his newly installed TG9S from going out every few seconds. Upon further inspection, he finds that condensate collection unit has a leak that could be damaging the thermocouple. Contractors on the forum encourage the homeowner to report the problem to the installing technician, rather than the manufacturer.
