Bryant Evolution Heat Pump Overview

With up to 19 SEER and 9.0 HSPF, all models of Bryant's Evolution series meet Energy Star guidelines for efficiency. These two-stage heat pumps maximize home comfort and energy savings by consistently operating on a lower function and automatically transitioning to high heating stage when needed.

This series uses Puron refrigerant and advertises sound as quiet as a vacuum with the noise softening features of the AeroQuiet System II. The Evolution line is also equipped with an easy to read thermostat with the ability to program 7 days of temperature, humidity, and air quality.

All units have a powder-coat finish and are finished with Bryant's DuraGuard Plus formula for extra durability and protection weather.

"A piece of shit unit"

1.0 rating

Bought this unit October 2015, on July 1, 2017 the outside unit stopped working. Called the service people to look into the problem. There was a part on the outside unit that went bad. The service person said the part was covered under mfg. Warranty but the labor was not. This is totally my fault for buying this piece of shit. I was leaning towards a Trane but went with this brand because of the installers. Please do not buy a Bryant or Carrier product you will be disappointed and it will be costly. I wish they would move all of their products to Mexico then people will not be fooled into buying their products.

"A good solid heat pump"

I first got this heat pump about 2 years ago. I really like how energy efficient it is. Not only that, but it's very sturdy and still going without any issues. It can be a bit noisy at times though, but my room is kind of close to the system. The cooling works quite well, but I noticed it can have trouble heating quickly and it takes a bit of time to start up when it's really cold. Overall though, it works very well for the size and efficiency. If your heating and cooling needs exceed mine you may want to consider a heavier system. I have yet to need repairs of any sort, but I haven't been using it for that long and may need to have it inspected for repairs sometime in the next 3 years. I would gladly purchase from this high-quality brand and would recommend anyone to try it out.

"Just junk"

We had the top of the line Bryant heat pump put in 6 years ago. The very first summer it cost us $956.78 because the compressor went out. The parts were paid for by Bryant, the cost was the install. The heating and air cost over $15,000.00. Every year we had to have it fixed, that is six years of cost to us. Today it is June the 12th, 2015 at 8 am. The outside temperature is 82. I turned on the AC, it is not working for the 7th summer. We are replacing the Bryant junk with Samsung units. Before you buy, read the reviews! Bryant is and will always be junk.

"A big mistake!"

I spent almost $20,000 in 2013 to replace my 25-year-old heat pump with what I was told was the state of the art model that would see me through the next 25 years. I trusted my local heat pump service company with their recommendation of the Evolution series, but I should have done my own homework. What little money I have saved in electricity over the past two winters, has been offset several times over by maintenance costs and firewood use while the system was broken. I am a mechanical design engineer, and I honestly rate both the design and the build quality of my system to be very poor. It cannot handle snow without constant tending. It freezes up and needs hot water spraying to thaw the coils. It makes horrible noises all of the time. It has no weather protection for the electronic controls of the outdoor unit so the control board fills with snow and ice. My many service calls have resulted in tie wraps and foam pads to try to hold back vibrating pipes that are self destructing, and foam tape to try to block some of the gaps that let the blowing snow into places it should not go. Otherwise, I've been told that it is "normal" behaviour in abnormal weather conditions. Warranty has only covered small parts and I have spent thousands in service calls. I am surprised that my neighbours have not come to complain about the unacceptable noise. I am going to try to negotiate a trade in, but I am afraid that I have simply wasted my money and will be throwing good money after bad until I replace it. Don't make the same mistake that I did!
