Carrier 25HNA Infinity Heat Pump Overview

The Carrier 25HNA Infinity heat pump series is available in one- or two-stage units. As a two-stage unit, operation mostly occurs in the lower stage for cost savings. The Infinity heat pump series is designed to partner with the Infinity series furnace enabling the utilization of hybrid heat. Carrier's hybrid heat involves a duel-fuel system in which the system optimizes the efficiencies of fuel sources by switching between electricity and gas. With up to 19 SEER and a 9.5 HSPF heating efficiency, the Carrier 25HNA Infinity series has earned the Energy Star rating.

To minimize noise production during operation while maintaining maximum air flow, the Infinity series employs the Silencer System II, which includes forward swept fan blades among other noise reduction features. The unit produces 69 dB during operation, which is about as loud as the average vacuum cleaner.

The 25HNA utilizes the Infinity Control System for temperature programming and enhanced diagnostics for easy repair. The unit is manufactured with a steel louver coil guard and is made of heavy-gauge galvanized steel for weather protection and durability. The exterior is coated with a baked-on powder coat paint.

"Design Flaw"

1.0 rating
Very Unsatisfied

After 10 years of service, the 25hna936a320 series heat pump has started to fail. I probably would have been very happy with this unit since my costs to cool our house has decreased over time but the unit has a design flaw. The mount for the mount broke and caused the fan to drop. The fan busted a line and cut some wires. The fan also got into the fins on the coil. I will have over a $ 1000 dollars in repairs or I can purchase a new unit. Very disappointed in the unit and the poor design.

"Carrier 25HNA 4 Ton two stage doing great after one decade"

5.0 rating
Very Satisfied

I saw all the bad comments on carrier and thought I would relate my experience. We had our Carrier infinity model 25hna 4 ton dual fuel (gas) installed in June of 2008 and have had absolutely no service required on the unit. I have been very happy with the units performance, since it has kept us cool in the summer and warm in the winter. When we do have to replace our unit,(knock on wood), I will have to talk to hvac techs and find out which models are reliable and consider the customer service going forward. I will still have to consider Carrier since our family has been blessed with a great unit for the last 9 years and 9 months.

"Garbage"

I'll make this short and sweet overpriced trash. I have two infinity systems $20,000 to install. One units compressor failed after 1 year carrier wouldn't pay for labor or freon. Second units compressor failed after just over ten years. Almost $2000 to replace. Both thermostats heat/cool buttons broken. Have to use infinity thermostat. $700.00 per thermostat. Thanks for nothing carrier.

"Unsatisfactory Quality & Business Practice"

1.0 rating
Very Unsatisfied

I will keep this brief because the common homeowner should easily see the problem. After only 10 years, I have to spend $6000 on a replacement? I am dismayed and saddened to discover this is the level of quality an AMERICAN company can produce! It failed 10 years and one month after it was installed. I contacted Carrier to request an exception be made since it failed 10 years and 1 month after installation. I was astonished to learn. When I purchased my unit, Carrier's policy was that WARRANTY BEGAN THE DATE OF MANUFACTURE, not the date of purchase or installation. This is absurd and unethical. I discovered that my unit was manufactured 4 months before I owned it! Hoping Carrier would still honor my request in light of this disingenuous business practice, I was then informed the 10 year warranty applies only to the Condenser. All other parts are a 5 year warranty. This experience tells me exactly how much Carrier stands behind the quality of its products. I am embarrassed for them.

"All hype, no quality."

$12,000 for a 3 ton unit installed in 2013. Within the first year the first unit had so many failures with AC that the dealer/installer had to actually remove and replace the whole outside unit. This was after 5 service visits over the summer. They replaced the compressor twice and several other parts (too many to remember). So, with a brand new heat pump you would think all would be good now. Wrong. Winter of 2015 and the system is running on heat-strip backup about 70% of the time. It is a mild winter here also. I got my electric bill and the kilowatt usage for January had tripled! Dealer came out, did "something" and said nothing is wrong. Next month I watched the thermostat as it stated the backup strips were running constantly again. The air-handler would blow cold air even when outside temps were in the mid 30's. When the pump couldn't meet the thermostat demand, on comes the electric strips…up goes my electric bill! I turned off the heat strips to tell the system to use heat pump only, but the only thing I get now is a constantly running air-handler and a very cold house. Buyer beware of Carrier's low quality product and marketing hype. This is not your father's Carrier of yesterday.
