"McCoy's/York A/C"

5.0 rating
Very Satisfied

My 23 year old unit died. I had my repairman give me an estimate on a new unit installed and I asked McCoy's to give me an estimate. McCoy's was very professional with an excellent reputation and recommended York. They gave me time to study reviews on my own. My results told me to go with the York and the the most professional installer McCoy'S. I feel I made a good decision and I am very satisfied with both.

New installation 1 month ago so limited experience but the system works very well. The temperature in the house stays on thermostat setting which is unlike my old system that had a 2 degree bandwidth before the system came on.

Seven-year old York Heat Pump now on its 25th service call. Two five. This system hasn't worked properly since it was installed and now the compressor is shot. I've heard every excuse in the book and paid for labor to replace just about every major component in this garbage pile since about the second month in so-called "operation." My patience is gone and now it is time to file the complaint and take corrective legal action if need be to right this wrong. Horrendous product based on my experiences, which unfortunately continue. The cost of replacing this junk pile would have been much less expensive than the additional cost of repairs, missed work days, excessive energy bills, bs diagnostics, and the general nightmare that this horrendous and expensive junk has caused me. I'm sure a good attorney can quantify that better than I can though but I'll leave that to them. Never again will I purchase anything with this brand.

"Piece of Junk"

This unit has had four compressors since it was installed. The last compressor lasted 60 days. My mother bought the heap pump new, and has had virtually every piece of it replaced since it was installed. She has since died, and I now own her home with my sister, and the 4th compressor is dead after 60 days. York said they would replace the compressor – if after seeing it they think it was bad – but they would not pay labor, shipping, or anything else but supply the replacement part. Really? I'm going to replace the compressor every 60 days? They'll just send more junk. We are going to rip the unit out and never buy York or Johnson Controls again.

I read reviews ad Nauseam before replacing my old air conditioner with a new heat pump. Each brand had its critics, lots of them. My local HVAC company Hinton Refrigeration sells both Lennox and York. I decided to take a chance on the York and save $3,500. I replaced both my furnace and the heat pump. Total cost including $560 for a 10 year extended labor warrant was $9,510. That was Dec 2010. It's now July 2017. There have been no problems. The unit continues to function flawlessly. As others have mentioned it does make go bang when the unit shuts off. But hey, it's outside. I don't hear it in the house. If I'm on the back porch it is noticeable but not particularly bothersome.
