KeepRite manufactures and markets residential oil and gas furnaces, central air conditioners and heat pumps. KeepRite is owned by International Comfort Products (ICP), which owns several other HVAC brands, including Arcoaire, Clare, Comfortmaker, Dettson, Heil, Lincoln, and Tempstar. ICP is part of UTC Building and Industrial Systems, a unit of United Technologies Corporation. United Technologies had net sales of $59.8 billion in 2017.
KeepRite is one of ICP’s channels for selling HVAC products in Canada. ICP describes KeepRite as “Canada’s leading name in heating and cooling for 50 years.”
According to ACHR News, ICP bought into the KeepRite brand in 1981. In 1991, ICP spun off the refrigeration unit, which was purchased in 1994 by National Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Products. In addition, National Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Products, which markets commercial refrigeration and industrial heat transfer and recovery products, licenses the brand name KeepRite Refrigeration from ICP, but is not otherwise affiliated with the company.
KeepRite’s furnaces, air conditioners and heat pumps come in a variety of models, which include high-efficiency Energy Star-rated equipment as well as less expensive and less efficient models. Gas furnaces range in efficiency from 80% AFUE to 97% AFUE. Heat pumps and air conditioners are available in models ranging from 13 SEER to 19 SEER, with mini-splits reaching up to 22 SEER.
Most KeepRite units carry the company’s standard 10-year parts warranty. The company also offers a “No Hassle” replacement limited warranty that covers compressors, heat exchangers and other large components; terms of that warranty vary from one to ten years, depending on the product’s tier. To keep your warranty valid, you need to have your equipment inspected annually, and you will need to keep your original receipts. Extended warranties are available.
