Napoleon Heating and Cooling manufactures a variety of heating and cooling products, including air conditioners, gas and wood/hybrid furnaces, and heat pumps. They also produce a line of gas, wood, and pellet stoves. The company is headquartered in Barrie, Ontario, Canada, and is privately owned.

Corporate History

Wolfgang Schroeter started Wolf Steel, Ltd., in 1976 as a small fabrication business that manufactured steel railings. In 1981 the Napoleon brand name was born, and the company grew to manufacture and sell stoves, fireplaces, heating and cooling equipment, and other products throughout Canada, the United States, and Europe.

Napoleon is now an ISO9001 – 2008 registered company and has been recognized as one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies. Napoleon has over 1,000 employees and operates with over 1,200,000 square feet of manufacturing space. According to the company, they are North America’s largest privately-owned manufacturer of quality wood and gas fireplaces, gourmet gas and charcoal grills, outdoor living products and heating & cooling products.

Product Lines

Napoleon’s line of central air conditioners range from 13 SEER to 16 SEER units and are made with swept fan blade technology for increased efficiency and noise reduction. The company also offers two heat pump series, in 14 and 16 SEER units.

A line of five gas furnace includes the Ultimate 9700 Series, which according to the company is the shortest two-stage unit on the market, with an efficiency of over 97% AFUE. A line of three wood/hybrid furnaces offer triple fuel combinations, with wood, oil, and electric configurations.

The company’s large line of gas stoves ranges from heat outputs of 20,000 BTU’s to up to 44,000 BTU’s, while its eight wood stove models all produce over 40,000 BTU’s. Napoleon produces one pellet stove, the Eco Pellet Stove, which has a 55 lb. hopper and produces up to 42,500 BTU’s.<

Warranty

Napoleon central air conditioners and heat pumps come with a 10-year warranty on parts and compressor.

Gas furnace warranties vary according to the unit. All furnaces have a 10-year parts warranty. The heat exchanger warranty ranges from a lifetime warranty to a 20-year warranty. Select units also have a Unit Replacement warranty, ranging from 10 to 15 years.

Napoleon gas, wood and pellet stoves are covered by a President’s Limited Lifetime warranty and a 1-year labor warranty. Electrical parts a covered by a 1-year warranty.

All equipment must be registered within 60 days from date of purchase for maximum warranty coverage.
