Rheem Fury Electric Water Heater Overview

The Rheem Fury Electric is a discontinued water heater with an efficiency of .85 – .95 EF. It came in short, medium and tall configurations, with capacities ranging from 20 to 120 gallons. The EverKleen self-cleaning device improved efficiency and tank life by using a high-velocity spiraling water stream to fight sediment build-up. The unit used a high efficiency resistored heating element to help extend anode rod and tank life. The Fury also came with a brass drain valve and temperature and pressure relief valve.

"Disappointed!"

In February of 2011 we replaced a 15-year-old functioning water heater with a Rheem Fury. We expected the Rheem water heater to last at least 10 years, but today we noticed it is leaking into the drip pan. The heating element still works, but with a slow leak it will need to be replaced. Even with the 6-year warranty we don't plan to replace it with another Rheem product. We'll see what the plumber says tomorrow. So disappointed in this Rheem water heater.

"Does the job with no problem"

Water heater has been here for about 3 years. It produces hot water with no problem, and hasn't required any repair. Energy efficiency seems reasonable, as I didn't notice any change in my electricity bill when the heater arrived. I generally don't discuss appliances or water heaters, with friends – but I suppose if someone asked me to recommend one I would recommend this.

Bought new at Home Depot. I've had nothing but problems, replaced most parts and still no go. I called tech support and they were no help, also called Home Depot and got the same answer from them! Also had a repairman out to look and his answer to me was get a new hot water tank from someone else after a $300 service bill just to look at the tank and leave! So now I have a new tank for $500 that doesn't work and I have to buy a new one again. My thoughts of this company and tanks are junk, also a rip-off and a waste of my money and time!

We have owned this Rheem water heater (model 82V52-2 FURY) for 5 years, during which it has seen some heavy use. It has a capacity of 50 gallons and has never "ran out" of hot water during its tenure at my house, even though 4 people live in the house and often take showers right after each other with the dish washer and washing machine running at the same time. The only thing I dislike about it is that it uses a fairly large amount of electricity per year. It has been quite reliable and has never needed repair or maintenance, which I am quite pleased with. I would perhaps get a more energy efficient model from the same company in the future if needed. Overall, I am quite satisfied with the product and would recommend it to anyone with a moderate size family for their water heating needs, so long as they are aware it is a power hungry water heater.

"Optimal Heat for Large House"

5.0 rating
Very Satisfied

We moved into our new house two and a half years ago and the water heater installed in the house has worked incredibly well to keep our water temperature hot when we need it. Our house has several bathrooms, showers, tubs, and sinks to supply water to and we use them all regularly with five individuals in our house. Water temperature gets hot very quickly in all of our faucets and showers and provides hot water for the time we need it. While I haven't done any extensive testing of how long hot water lasts, the temperature maintains the heat for as long as we use it in practical ways day to day (multiple people taking showers, doing dishes, etc.). I have no negatives to mention yet regarding this particular water heater and it has not needed to be repaired or replaced at this time. I would recommend this water heater to anyone who asked and when I need to look for a replacement down the road I will certainly look at Rheem water heaters first based on my positive initial experience with them.
