Rheem Fury Gas Water Heater Overview

The Rheem Fury is a discontinued gas water heater with an efficiency of .58 – .62 EF and an FHR of 50 to 90 gallons for natural gas. Fury water heaters featured the Guardian System and were designed to surpass ANSI standards for flammable vapor ignition resistance. The Fury included a brass drain valve and temperature and pressure relief valve. The EverKleen system fought sediment build-up, and a patented magnesium anode rod with resistor prevented rust from building up inside the tank. The Fury came in 29, 38, 40 and 50 gallon tall and 20, 40 and 50 gallon short capacities.

"You get what you pay for"

I am in the plumbing business for 23 years. A real plumbing company. There truly is a difference in the water heaters (as well as other fixtures) you buy at Home Depot, Menards, or Lowe's. Their quality is lowered to meet a price point given to the manufactures, and it shows in the quality. If you purchase your product from a plumber, at least with my company, you will get the quality product. On occasion, not too often, if there is a flaw, the parts are generally stocked in my local distributor warehouse. Warranties are taken care of by our company direct with the distributor. You may save a few dollars at the "box stores," but you'll pay in the end with the troubles. I have read in these reviews. This doesn't only pertain to Rheem; it applies to all name brand items you find in the big box store.

Plumber recommended this model, would not get it again. Leaked after just 6 years + 2 months. Don't even know that it rusted out or tank just failed, the water we're cleaning up in the basement is clear.

In checking the age of my still working Rheem gas water heater I was astounded that it was manufactured in 1987. To be safe I'm going to replace it with another Rheem water heater.

"No Refunds AT ALL!!"

Got the Rheem water heater when I bought my home. It was a bad model and the pilot box didn't work. They sent me another box. The heater is still under full repair warranty as stated by the claim specialist. I had to pay for the repairs as they stated "we don't seem to have any technicians that can help you out there You'll have to get someone yourself. I paid a plumber to fix the issue which coat me $480. They then asked me to submit a claim and they would reimburse me but never did. They will not pay you back! Do not recommend!.

"Poor at honoring warranty"

Bought this 5 year ago through a service plan. It leaked and flooded my basement. I've been trying for 4 days to get my warranty to take care of it, but have been given the runaround by Rheem customer service. I just went out and bought a different heater.
